more Mid-century concrete block

The more I get out, the more I see these things everywhere!

Mid-century concrete block fences

I have been becoming aware of the (ubiquity) and variety of concrete block fences and walls in the neighbourhood just east of Fraser Street around 48th avenue. On my daily ride to work, I pass a collection of houses that have these fences, and have begun to really look at them.  I took a few shots of them while I was out walking the dog this morning, but I realize that  there is a lot more to this than I first thought.

Truffula Tree

I rescued an unwanted potted plant last June. It spent the summer on my front porch, and now has moved in due to the cold weather.  It is long and spindly, but somewhat lovely in a Charlie-Brown-Christmas-Tree sort of way.

A gift in the back yard

This is a fine looking bird!  I think it is a Coopers Hawk. I am especially fond of his eyes.

Getting Ready for a 100Km ride

Getting Ready for a 100Km ride on October 15th means putting in the hours  -training on my bicycle.  Sometimes it means getting up early to do riding before work.  As this picture attests, there are rewards for being up early.

Lake Malawi

This picture, taken at the shore of Lake Malawi, gives you a postcard perfect view.

In contrast, a typical view along a road.
