I went to Boundary Bay on Monday to see the Snowy owls. They were there in force. The green marsh grass was punctuated at regular intervals with silver-grey driftwood logs adorned with brilliant white owls. I spent time looking, and not much time photographing, as we couldn't get very close for fear of disturbing them.
A heron, on the other hand obligingly stood quite close to the golf-course fence.
We can't call it posing, as he seemed to believe that he was hidden by the grass.
I share my photos, thoughts, and ideas. Walking along the beach of life, I find a shell, a bit of beach glass or an interesting bit of driftwood, I pick it up, wipe it off and show it to you: hey! Look at this. Treasure!

You can't see me; I'm hiding.

Mid-century concrete block fences
I have been becoming aware of the (ubiquity) and variety of concrete block fences and walls in the neighbourhood just east of Fraser Street around 48th avenue. On my daily ride to work, I pass a collection of houses that have these fences, and have begun to really look at them. I took a few shots of them while I was out walking the dog this morning, but I realize that there is a lot more to this than I first thought.

Truffula Tree
I rescued an unwanted potted plant last June. It spent the summer on my front porch, and now has moved in due to the cold weather. It is long and spindly, but somewhat lovely in a Charlie-Brown-Christmas-Tree sort of way.

Getting Ready for a 100Km ride
Getting Ready for a 100Km ride on October 15th means putting in the hours -training on my bicycle. Sometimes it means getting up early to do riding before work. As this picture attests, there are rewards for being up early.
