Just back from Family Camp at Pioneer Pacific on Thetis Island.

At the end of the day, at camp, the tradition is to face the setting sun and sing 'Abide With Me' and 'Taps'. I love the sound of voices of three generations raised in unaccompanied song, as we gaze on a sunset like this:

- a perfect end to the day, and a prelude to a quiet night

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.

Day is done, gone the sun.
From the sea, from the hills, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest.
God is nigh.
