I share my photos, thoughts, and ideas. Walking along the beach of life, I find a shell, a bit of beach glass or an interesting bit of driftwood, I pick it up, wipe it off and show it to you: hey! Look at this. Treasure!

Remembrance Day
How can I remember something that I have never experienced? I cannot, but I can educate myself - read and learn about what has happened. I can live a life in gratitude for the gift of freedom won by someone else's blood. I can take a moment and think, am I living a life worthy of the sacrifice made for me?
I remember singing a song at an assembly or concert in grade 5. Part of it went like this::
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With ev'ry step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With ev'ry step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me

images created from photos I have taken
A friend shared one of Annie Lennox's photos on FB. I know of her from the Eurythmics, but when I looked at some of her visual work, I liked what I saw.
I was inspired to create images out of some photos I have taken. What do you think? Is it art? A quote from the Simpsons: " I don't know art, but I know what I hate" - but you know something? I don't hate this. I kind of like it, and feel that I could work with this.
I hear a pounding on the roof... Here comes the rain again.

Pirate Treasure
A basket of borrowed brass candlesticks being returned brought with it the image of pirate gold or a dragon`s treasure trove. I know from experience that 'all that glisters is not gold', but shiny things still catch my eye's fancy, and my heart thrills with the thought of things that are not treasures, but feel as if they might be a fair substitution.
O @#!*% ! what have we here?
A carrion Death, within whose empty eye
There is a written scroll! I'll read the writing.
All that glisters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold.
Had you been as wise as bold,
Young in limbs, in judgment old,
Your answer had not been inscroll'd:
Fare you well; your suit is cold.

random stuff
Is it just me, or is there something fundamentally wrong with this slogan? I wonder if something got lost in the translation into Canadian.
Half Full - it's how we've seen our cups since 1970. What does this even mean? Are they pessimists? Limited optimists? Underachieving optimists? Impossibleists? (Is that even a real word?)
How much coffee do you order at a place like that in order to get a full cup?
"I'll have two cups of coffee - just put it in one cup"
Oh I know, there is probably some "we can always find room for improvement" motive.
Still I have to concede that the slogan got me to take notice of a colleague's empty coffee cup - and No, I am not going to tell you the name of the company.
